The Chinese tech giant Realme finally unveiled its wireless charging system for smartphones named the MagDart. The MagDart was teased and hyped by Realme a lot in the past few days and the company finally unveiled it today on August 3rd to the public. The MagDart is quite similar to Apple’s wireless charging system, the MagSafe. Realme claims that the MagDart is currently the fastest magnetic charging solution for smartphones currently and it delivers charging speeds of up to 50 watts. In addition to the MagDart, the tech giant also launched several magnetic accessories, quite similar to those launched by Apple when they unveiled the MagSafe back in 2020. Realme Flash, MagDart Chargers, and Accessories
Realme Flash Concept Phone
The Chinese tech giant introduced the world to the Realme Flash concept phone that can be the world’s first Android phone to support its MagDart wireless charging system. As of now, the Realme Flash is just a concept phone that was developed primarily to demonstrate the working of the MagDart charging technology. Although Realme did not reveal much about the phone, it can be seen that the smartphone features a curved display, and a dual-curved, glass back panel. The phone also houses a 0.3mm coil for magnetic charging underneath the back panel. The device draws its power from a 4,500 mAh battery and the phone runs on the latest Snapdragon 888 5G processor.
50W MagDart Charger
Let’s now talk about the star of the show, Realme’s 50W MagDart Charger. The tech giant claims that the MagDart is the most compact yet most powerful wireless charger in the industry currently. Realme added that the wireless charger features an active cooling system that improves thermal efficiency. As a result, you can easily charge your device even while performing demanding tasks like editing and gaming without raising the temperature of the charger or the device. However, the active cooling system does add heft to the charger.
The company claims that the MagDart wireless charger can charge a 4,500 mAh battery from 0% to 20% in under 5 minutes, which is quite fast, even for wired chargers. This means that the MagDart Wireless Charger is as efficient as a wired charger.
15W MagDart Slim Charger
In addition to the 50W MagDart Charger, Realme also launched the super-slim 15W MagDart charger. Realme might be planning to introduce the 15W MagDart in order to compete directly with Apple’s 15W MagSafe Wireless Charger. It seems like Realme has an advantage over Apple because the MagDart is both slimmer and lighter than the MagSafe.
Realme was able to make the 15W MagDart so slim because unlike traditional chargers, they added the charging board inside the charging plug instead of adding it to the charging pad. Not only did it help with the thickness, but it also helped them with the weight. An added advantage of this design is that it maintains a constant charging level and also reduces the amount of heat generated.
MagDart Power Bank
In addition to the MagDart chargers, Realme also introduced the MagDart power bank that might give Apple’s recently launched battery pack a run for its money. The power bank features a dual-cell battery and weighs about 140 grams. You also get a USB Type-C connector and a charging stand.
MagDart Beauty Light
Realme also introduced the MagDart Beauty Light, an accessory that can help in improving portrait photography. The Beauty Light uses over 60 mini LEDs to create a soft white light that can enhance the quality of the pictures. The Light attaches itself to the MagDart-enabled device magnetically. It uses reverse wireless charging to draw power from the device’s battery. Additionally, you can even flip the Beauty Light to the front side and use it when taking selfies.
MagDart Wallet
It was already rumored that Realme is planning to introduce a Wallet accessory similar to the one Apple unveiled when it introduced the MagSafe. The MagDart Wallet attaches itself to the device magnetically and it can house up to 3 debit or credit cards. The MagDart Wallet also features an aluminum stand that acts as a stand for the device to stand vertically. Talking about the Wallet, it is made up of white vegan leather and looks quite premium.
MagDart Case for Realme GT
The Realme GT is one of those premium Android phones that supports wireless charging and it did not surprise anyone when Realme introduced a MagDart Case designed especially for the Realme GT. The MagDart Case means that the Realme GT can now support the MagDart wireless charging.
The case itself is made up of high-quality carbon fiber material and houses a functional USB-C port at the bottom. This port is quite similar to the one already present on the Realme GT and provides the same data transfer and wireless charging speeds. The device and the case are connected to each other with the help of a Type C connector.
Realme MagDart: Price and Availability
As of now, Realme has not revealed when they are planning to introduce the MagDart products in the market and needless to say, we do not know the prices yet. However, we should expect Realme to be launching these products quite soon because it would allow them to create a massive ecosystem consisting of devices and accessories compatible with MagSafe. The sooner the better.
