Design, Build & Comfort
In terms of design, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z looks like every pair of neckband earphones. The same thin cable that connects the ear tips and the neckband. The neckband is silicone-made, very soft, and flexible. The bottom housing also has a smooth finish even though it is made of plastic, and it is quite identical to Bullets Wireless Z Bass Edition.
The headset terminates in two chunky chambers that have the cables jutting out their ends. The right chamber has only the OnePlus logo. While the right chamber host the three multifunction buttons, a microphone, an LED indicator, and a Type-C charging port. The charging port is not covered by a flap, but still, the neckband has an IP55 rating. So you don’t need to worry about the sweat, dust, and light rain.
The buds are also made of plastic and also look very stylish. The backside of the earbuds is magnetic and snaps together when not in use and also has an auto-on/off feature that is available only in a few Bluetooth headsets in this price range. So, when you want to pause the music, you can snap the buds together and resume; just remove them. This same setting also applies to ongoing calls.
Coming to comfort, I am quite happy with the overall comfort offered by OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2. The headset is made of plastic only. So, it’s very obvious the weight is minimal (26.65g) and comfortable to use for a long time.
The tilted ear canal and soft silicone ear tips are the main reason behind the comfort of this neckband. During testing, the earbuds fit perfectly in my ears and don’t fall out easily, even when I am running on the treadmill. So, I can say that this is one of the best comfortable neckband earphones I have ever tried in this price range.
Overall, the build quality and finish of the headset are very good and definitely worth the price of Rs.1999. The Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z2 can easily be put at the top 2 wireless neckbands under 2000 Rs.
Connectivity & Microphone
The Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z2 supports Bluetooth 5.0 and Oneplus own fast pair technology. I tested this neckband paired with my Oneplus 10 and iPhone 12 very quickly. So, don’t worry about the paring and connectivity range. There is no dual pairing support, so you can only connect to one device at a time.
The microphone performance of the Z2 is also good. In indoor use, it catches audio very clearly with good tonality. In noisy outdoor environments, the AI Noice canceling does a good job of reducing ambient sounds. Overall, I am happy with the microphone performance.
Latency
According to my testing, I can say it has decent latency performance as same we expect from AAC and SBC codec Bluetooth Earphones. While watching videos or music listening, the delay was barely noticeable. But while playing the games, the latency was easily noticeable. So, if you are a hardcore gamer, I would recommend wired earphones.
Battery Life
The Oneplus Bullets Wireless Z2 has exceptional battery life. It has a 200 mAH battery, and the company promises up to 30h of playback time with 50% volume. During my three days of testing, I got over 25 hours of battery life with 50 to 60% volume.
Charging the Bullets Wireless Z2 from 0 to 100% takes less than half an hour. It also supports fast charging that promises up to 20h of playback in 10 min of charging, which is impressive.
Sound Quality
Coming to the sound quality, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 offers fairly good audio quality with a good amount of bass, thanks to large 12.4mm drives that are tuned for bass. The overall audio tuning is quite similar to the previous Oneplus Z bass addition, with natural vocal and treble with high bass response.
The big advantage of the large drivers shows in the overall volume; the headset is impressively loud even at the 60% volume mark. So, you rarely needed to go up to 100% volume. The good thing is that even at full volume the audio doesn’t distort.
Coming to the detail, the bass response on the Bullets Z2 is quite good. The upper and mid-bass response is really high and punchy. So, if you are a bass lover then you will defiantly like the Z2. Another good thing is that the high bass doesn’t overpower the other frequency too much. Yes, it does a little, but not much as we see in most wireless earphones in this price range.
The bass is quite tolerable at medium volume, and it gives an excellent exciting feel. When we talk about the high volume, then yes, the high bass gives you a little bit fatiguing feel.
Apart from this, the vocal and treble notes are also very decent, with a good amount of detail. They sound very natural and overall give a pleasing experience. The soundstage is also decently wide, and you can easily recognize all types of Instruments.
Personally, I really like the sound quality of the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2. Even when compared to the other two really great Bluetooth earphones out there right now — the Realme Buds Wireless 2, Enco M32, and boAt Rockerz 225, the Oneplus Z2 can easily hold their own.
Final Words
All things considered, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 are honestly a pretty amazing pair of neckband earphones in their price range, with comfortable design and good sound quality. It’s a good upgrade to the predecessor that offers better bass-driven audio. Yes, we all expected the ANC, app support, and Hi-Res audio support, but our wish was not completed.
