If you have been aware of the smartwatch industry for the past few years, then a name must have been through your ears a lot. Yes, we are talking about Amazfit, one of the biggest wearables manufacturers in the global markets. It has been one of the most popular brands in the market, with its hands mostly in the midrange and the premium segment. But now, they have also entered the budget segment with the Amazfit Bip 3, which they offer for about Rs. 3,500 in the Indian market.
The Bip 3 would neither be the first product from Amazfit that I am testing nor the first product in the segment. But it would be interesting to see what Amazfit has to offer at this price point. So let’s quickly start with our review of the Amazfit Bip 3.

Box Content
First, let’s quickly go through the in-box contents that comes packed with the Amazfit Bip 3. First, you get a user manual that briefly explains how everything on the watch works. Next, you get a magnetic charging dock that quickly snaps to the back of the smartwatch to charge it. The magnet is quite strong, so it does not slip off with some accidental pulls. Finally comes the smartwatch itself, which comes in three different color variants. The one I got is the Black color variant, but you can also go with the Blue or Pink color variant.

Design, Build & Comfort
Starting with the build, the watch comes with a premium plastic build that looks pretty compact and feels solid in your hands. It has the same square-shaped dial, a pretty standard design in the market today. The watch is very lightweight and weighs about 33 grams, making it very comfortable for daily usage. The silicone straps are very soft and skin-friendly, which is good because some budget smartwatches have straps that start to itch your skin after a while. It follows an elegant and minimal design that gives it a premium touch.
On the right-hand side of the watch, you will find a multi-functional button that you can use to navigate through the watch interface and turn the screen on / off. You can take this watch for a quick shower or in your sweaty workouts as it comes with IPX5 water resistance. Although this also means that you cannot take it for swimming unless you want to get rid of it and buy a new one. Also, the back of the watch is prone to getting scratches, so it would be better to keep it away from sharp and pointy objects.
Display
Moving on to the display, Amazfit Bip 3 packs a 1.69-inch TFT display. It offers a resolution of 240 x 280 pixels with 218 PPI. The touchscreen comes with a 2.5D tempered glass protection and anti-fingerprint coating, adding an extra layer of protection to the screen. The display quality is decent and similar to what you would expect from a smartwatch at this price range.
The display is reasonably bright and sharp, similar to any other budget smartwatch in the segment. Yes, it lacks an AMOLED display panel that some other watches in the same price point flaunt, but they lack other significant features, making them not a value-for-money pick.
It offers five brightness levels and allows you to set a maximum screen on time of about 50 seconds. However, it does miss out on an always-on display and auto-brightness, which would have been a great addition but is still acceptable considering the price point.
Interface & Features
Coming to the interface, the watch UI is very clean and easy to use, similar to most of the Amazfit watches. It works fluently without any issues or lags, offering an excellent overall experience. It is full of colorful visuals and graphs that look very good with the design.
The same goes for the smartphone app; it is one of the most optimized smartwatch companion apps I have used. Although this is not my first experience with the Amazfit app, I have used it with some other Amazfit smartwatches in the past and have appreciated it as well. The app is also straightforward to navigate, and the interface makes accessing the information very easy, which is quite impressive.
As we are already aware, Amazfit is well known for its feature-loaded smartwatches, which they have also managed to do with the Bip 3. You get numerous display related features like lift-to-wake and screen lock, which are pretty handy. The app also has many customizations options that will surely grab your attention.
Coming to the watch faces, you will get two preloaded watch faces with the watch and many more if you choose to connect it with its compatible smartphone app. Yes, you won’t get to use a custom watch face with it but believe me, you won’t miss it since the watch faces on the app are very elegant looking.
The watch comes preloaded with basic fitness features like daily activity tracking, continuous heart rate tracking, SpO2 tracking, step tracking, sleep tracking, and many more sports modes. You also get other essential features like weather, alarm, camera control, and stopwatch. When connected to the smartphone, you will get all the calls, messages, and other app notifications directly on your smartwatch.
Accuracy
Accuracy is one of the most critical parts of any fitness tracking device, and you would surely not expect that from a budget smartwatch like the Bip 3, but it does a little better than the other smartwatches in the same segment. The Bip 3 offers detailed information on all the recorded stats, which is very impressive to see at this price point. The stats also turned out to be very accurate and trustworthy, which you would rarely see at this price point.
Battery
Lastly, coming to the battery, Amazfit Bip 3 packs a 280 mAH battery inside of it which the company claims will last about 14 days. Meanwhile, on the actual grounds, with all the battery-consuming features turned on, the watch lasted for about four days. With some of the features turned off, you can easily expect a battery life of about seven days which is pretty decent.
Verdict
Finally, coming to the most crucial part of the discussion, is the Amazfit Bip 3 a good smartwatch for its price?
My answer to that would be a yes. It is one of the best smartwatches that you could get under the budget of Rs. 5,000. The Amazfit Bip 3 is one of the most accurate smartwatches I have tested in this segment. It comes with almost all the necessary fitness features and offers a decent battery life that you would expect at this price point. Yes, it is not the most stylish-looking watch and lacks some features like in-built GPS tracking, but it accurately does all the jobs you would expect from a good smartwatch.
With this, I will like to end my review of the Amazfit Bip 3. If you have any suggestions or queries, drop them down in the comments, and I will be there to help you out as soon as possible. Thanks for reading.
