After too many rumors and leaks, Google finally announced the Google Pixel 5a 5G, the successor to last year’s Pixel 4a 5G. The new Pixel 5a comes with a unibody aluminum design in a new ‘Mostly Black’ color scheme that has a slight green hue to it. The body is IP67 dust and water-resistant. The design, however, is largely identical to the last year’s Pixel 4a.
The phone comes with a 6.34-inch FHD+ OLED display with 2400 x 1080 pixels resolutions and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a Snapdragon 765G chipset with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of storage. There is a Titan M Security chip for extra security.
On the camera department, it has the same 12MP f1.7 main lens with a 16MP f2.2 ultra-wide lens and on the front, it has an 8MP f2.0 sensor. This time spectral + flicker sensor has been dropped.
The Google Pixel 5a 5g runs on the latest Android 11 with minimum of 3 years of OS and security updates. The biggest difference between last year’s Pixel 4a and Pixel 5a is the battery, it comes with a 4680mAh battery. There’s still no wireless charging support and the charging is still done with the 18W fast charger.
Google Pixel 5A 5G Price and availability
The Google Pixel 5a is priced at $449 (33395 Rs approx.) is available to pre-order in the U.S. and Japan and will ship starting from August 26th, 2021. However, Google didn’t reveal any plans to sell the phone outside these countries.
