Huawei has officially launched its latest true wireless earbuds, the FreeBuds 6, boasting a revamped design, advanced audio capabilities, and a suite of smart features. These FreeBuds 6 aim to deliver a premium listening experience with improved comfort and enhanced functionality, solidifying Huawei’s position in the competitive audio market.

It features a water-drop shape and semi-open design meticulously crafted based on data from over 10,000 human ears. Huawei has focused on maximizing comfort and stability, reducing the ear stem’s volume by 12% and the overall weight by 9%, resulting in a lightweight 4.9g per earbud.

The compact charging case weighs just 40.3g, making the FreeBuds 6 highly portable. The inclusion of non-slip earmuffs further enhances the fit, ensuring a secure and comfortable experience even during active use.

Huawei is touting the FreeBuds 6 as the industry’s first semi-open TWS earbuds with a dual-unit acoustic system. This innovative design combines an 11mm four-magnet dynamic unit with a micro-flat tweeter, delivering a wide frequency range of 14Hz to 48kHz. This configuration promises crisp highs, clear mid-range, and deep bass, enhanced by Huawei’s “Bass Turbo technology.”

The FreeBuds 6 supports 2.3 Mbps lossless audio transmission at 48kHz/24-bit and is certified for both HWA Lossless and Hi-Res Wireless standards. Ultra-wideband real-time hearing optimization adjusts the sound output based on individual ear characteristics, wearing position, and volume level. Further enhancing the audio experience, Huawei has partnered with the Central Conservatory of Music to offer classical and balanced sound modes. The FreeBuds 6 also feature head-tracking spatial audio, which creates a more immersive listening experience when used with the Huawei Music app’s spatial audio library.

The FreeBuds 6 incorporates a bone conduction microphone and multi-channel noise reduction technology to ensure clear voice calls even in noisy environments. These earbuds can handle noise levels up to 95dB and wind speeds up to 8m/s. The semi-open light noise reduction feature minimizes background sounds in quieter settings, allowing for distraction-free conversations.

The FreeBuds 6 provides up to 36 hours of battery life with the charging case. A quick 5-minute USB-C charge provides 2.5 hours of playback. Smart Charging technology learns user charging habits to optimize battery life, increasing it by a claimed 37%.

The FreeBuds 6 are equipped with a range of smart features, including:

  • Intuitive Gesture Controls: Double-tap, triple-tap, and slide gestures for easy control of playback, calls, and volume.
  • HarmonyOS AI and Celia Integration: It features HarmonyOS AI, paired with Celia, Huawei’s voice assistant, for hands-free control of calls, music, translations (21 languages), and simultaneous interpretation (20 languages with Chinese).
  • Advanced Tracking: Features include long-distance map positioning, floor-level search in public spaces, and 50-meter Star Flash precision finding, with alerts for disconnections and reconnections.
  • Seamless Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.2 with 90ms gaming latency, multi-device pairing with HarmonyOS, cross-ecosystem streaming, and pop-up pairing on HarmonyOS devices.
  • Additional AI-powered Features: AI adaptive volume based on ambient noise and head gestures (nod to answer, shake to reject calls).
